Program Overview

This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) of the British Columbia Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

The Hospitality Management Certification program develops knowledge and practical skills for hospitality operations. Students study hospitality management, housekeeping, financial management, human resources, marketing, oral communication, listening, and practical workplace skills.

The program includes 100 hours of hospitality-management instruction and a 20-hour practicum.

Intended Career Occupations

This program is intended to prepare students for entry-level hospitality operations roles, such as:

• Guest Services Agent
• Hotel Front Desk Agent
• Reservations Agent
• Hospitality Operations Assistant
• Housekeeping Supervisor

This program does not lead directly to employment in a regulated occupation. Employment outcomes depend on employer requirements and the student’s individual qualifications.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have graduated from high school or be at least 19 years old at the start of the program.

Applicants must also demonstrate English-language proficiency by providing evidence of at least one of the following:

• IELTS Academic: overall score of 6.0, with no individual category below 5.5;
• TOEFL: minimum score of 70;
• CELPIP: overall level 7;
• B.C. English 12 with a minimum grade of B-

Practicum

The Hospitality Management Certification program includes a 20-hour practicum.

Practicum location: Richmond, British Columbia

Before participating in the practicum, students must:

• maintain at least 90% attendance; and
• complete the required pre-work-experience coursework.

Tuition and Fees

No additional fee is charged for participation in the practicum.
